DIY DSLR backpack with inserts

I posted my DIY Rolling camera case a few weeks and I thought I would also share my DIY DSLR backpack.
I bought this camera insert from a seller in China through Ebay.  They had several sizes, but this one really fit my backpack well and held the lenses I needed.

Here is the insert loaded with:
  • a 70-200 lens
  • full frame body with 28-75mm attached
  • flash unit
  • 50mm
  • and additional accesories

ABC's Final Witness shot on Canon DSLRs

Anyone catch pilot episode of Final Witness last night?
Teen daughter has her boyfriend kill her entire family.
I feel for you guy's with teen daughters.
Just watching a few minutes and you can't help but notice the sharpness and the shallow DOF.  Had to be DSLR's I thought.
This morning I found the production blog and interesting enough it was produced in 2010 (but only premiered 2012?) and shot with Canon 5D's and 1D's.

Color correcting, adjusting chroma, explained

Color correcting is one of the most complex things that I am too afraid to even touch. The most I've done is white balance or use Magic Bullet Looks here and there. A friend sent me a link to this great tutorial - that goes in depth how to use chroma levels, vectorscope, and RGB levels in Premiere Pro.

DIY Rolling Camera Bag aka old suitcase and camera insert

Around June 2011 I was looking for a cheap alternative to the freakin expensive ass rolling camera cases. I did some Googling and found a post from http://somethingblueimages.blogspot.com/2011/02/semi-diy-camera-bag.html

This was perfect. I had an old rolling suitcase that I had no use for, and for about $30 I could buy a padded insert and turn it into a rolling camera case and save hundreds of dollars. One problem though it wasn't as cool looking as a Think Tank. I was hesitant to post about this DIY, until today. FStoppers posted the same DIY trick and now I don't feel so bad about my DIY rolling camera bag!

behind the scenes of the promo for the new Canon EOS 5D Mark III

This video serves multiple purposes.
1. A great behind the scenes look at how they shot the promo video.
2. Its a promo video within itself because it talks about all the new features of the Canon 5D Mark III.

Act of Valor cut in Adobe

Act of Valor gained a lot of popularity in the DSLR world because most of it was shot on the Canon 5D Mark II and it featured real life Navy Seal members. It starts in the Philippines and San Diego, both of which I can definitely relate to. It also reminded of some scenes in Modern Warfare 2 or 3.

Here's a little promo from Adobe that shows the behind the scenes editing on Adobe Creative Suite.

Shooting photos of shooting guns

The math and science behind this how-to video is too confusing for me. But the images captured are amazing.

How to capture muzzle flash at the exact moment a gun is fired.

Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in with the Blu-Ray

$25 NEW & free shipping, not sure for how long though.

My brother got the VHS set, then my first E-bay purchase ever was the DVD set, and now...I feel like I just need to have this Blu-Ray set.
This post may not have anything to do with photos or dslr's. But this trilogy saga is film making at it's finest.

Take a picture, and THEN you can fix the focus later.

I really don't understand the physics of this just yet. But I have a feeling these cameras are going to go BIG like how the GoPro cameras did.
